On December 26, 2019, composer/lyricist Jerry Herman died. Herman was most famous for writing the music and lyrics for the musicals "Hello, Dolly!" and "La Cage aux Folles." But in 1968, he wrote a now-forgotten show called "Dear World," based on The Madwoman of Chaillot. And it featured the following title song: It is almost breathtaking how much this song applies to our current situation - not just the coronavirus crisis, but the climate crisis as well. If only Jerry Herman had lived to see his song take on this meaning. A Letter to Holly Figueroa O'Reilly

Earlier today I sent an email to Holly Figueroa O'Reilly. She's a songwriter and activist from Seattle who sued President Trump and won - twice. Her bravery is to be admired.
